Break the news

Break the news é um idiom que significa dar/contar notícias a alguém, sendo geralmente notícias ruins. Exemplos:

“I didn’t want to be the one to break the news to him.” (Eu não queria ser a pessoa a contar as notícias ruins a ele.)

“It was really sad when he broke the news to them.” (Foi muito triste quando ele contou a eles a notícia ruim.)
