Fall flat on one’s face

Fall flat on one’s face é um idiom que significa falhar ao fazer alguma coisa, não ter sucesso em algo. Exemplos:

“Their proposal fell flat on their faces. They should have done a better research before trying.” (A proposta deles não teve sucesso. Eles deveriam ter feito uma pesquisa melhor antes de tentar.)

“Peter’s performance fell flat on his face. He can’t sing.” (A performance do Peter não teve sucesso. Ele não sabe cantar.)
