Ref é uma abreviação de referee que significa árbitro. Exemplos:

“The ref of the game is famous for being very strict.” (O árbitro do jogo é famoso por ser muito rigoroso.)

“I think this ref clearly has something against my team.” (Eu acho que esse árbitro claramente tem alguma coisa contra o meu time.)
