Near thing é uma expressão que significa por pouco, por um triz. Exemplos:

“We arrived on time, but it was near thing.” (Nós chegamos na hora, mas foi por um triz.)

“That was a near thing. That car almost hit us!” (Essa foi por pouco. O carro quase bateu em nós!)
